According to Sindh Police, participants in the meeting included CPLC Chief Zubair Habib, along with DIGs from various departments such as CTD, Headquarters, Crime and Investigation, IT, Traffic, Establishment, and Finance. During the meeting, IG Sindh emphasized the importance of reforming the Helper 15 emergency system and instructed the DIGs to send comprehensive suggestions for review and subsequent action to strengthen the emergency, complaint, and response system.
IG Sindh highlighted the need to reduce the response time for Helper 15 police mobiles to citizens’ complaints, enabling quicker access to crime scenes. The ultimate goal is to provide timely assistance to people and foster a people-friendly approach to policing. He also instructed the establishment of a committee, comprising DIGs from Headquarters, Establishment, RRF, and Finance, to create recommendations for reforms in Helper 15. The committee is expected to consult with other stakeholders and study successful policing systems from around the world to gather expert opinions and suggestions.
IG Sindh reiterated that the Helper 15 force is the backbone of the policing process and plays a vital role in arresting crimes and criminal elements. He emphasized that the force should transition to modern policing at a steady pace, requiring the support and cooperation of the citizens to make this a reality. The committee’s objective is to develop recommendations that incorporate global best practices and modern techniques to strengthen the Helper 15 emergency response system.
The IG also pointed out that a robust grip on crime in developed countries is often achieved through modern policing systems, emphasizing the need to incorporate similar advancements in the Sindh Police’s operations.
The meeting concluded with IG Sindh’s call to action for further improvements to the Helper 15 emergency response system, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, reducing response times, and fostering a people-friendly policing approach.
