IG Punjab Visits Lahore Chamber to Strengthen Business Security

Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, visited the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) with several senior police officials. The visit aimed to discuss security measures for the business community in the region. LCCI President Abu Zar Shad, along with other chamber officials, welcomed Dr. Anwar and acknowledged the police’s role in maintaining peace during recent chamber elections.

According to Punjab Police, the meeting involved discussions on improving security and promoting economic activities. Dr. Anwar emphasized the police’s commitment to safeguarding business interests and announced plans to implement Safe Cities systems across all districts by June 30, 2025. He also directed the establishment of liaison committees to address issues like electricity theft, encroachments, and security concerns.

Dr. Anwar instructed DIG Operations Lahore to counter drug trafficking and beggar mafias in commercial areas. He highlighted ongoing efforts supported by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to enhance the police force’s capabilities. Over the past year, Rs. 31 billion has been invested in development projects, with significant funds allocated to police station upgrades and employee welfare. The visit concluded with the presentation of an honorary shield to Dr. Anwar by the LCCI President, marking a commitment to improved collaboration between the police and business sectors.
