Lahore, March 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):On the direction of Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan, Punjab Police has decided to request the Punjab government to increase the stricter rules and punishments for kite flying and to protect the precious lives of the citizens.
Spokesperson Punjab Police said that the Punjab Police is once again sending a letter to the Punjab government in which various suggestions have been made to increase the severity and penalties in kite flying laws.
Spokesperson Punjab Police said that the letter was proposing imprisonment for one to five years for making metallic strings and kites while a fine of Rs 500,000 to Rs 2 million or both. Similarly, the sale of metallic strings and kites is punishable by imprisonment for one to five years and a fine of Rs two lacs to Rs 05 lacs.
It is recommended to pay a fine or both. The Punjab Police spokesperson further said that a proposal is being made to mobilize the FIA Cyber Crime Wing against those who sell kite flying equipment on social media or online, according to which selling kite flying equipment through Facebook, WhatsApp or other platforms.
The Punjab Police spokesperson further said that the process of guaranteeing the violators involved in violation of kite flying laws would be further tightened while assistance of Federal Board of Revenue and Ministry of Commerce would be sought for ban on import of equipment required for manufacture of metallic strings.
The spokesman of Punjab Police further said that strictness in laws and increase in punishments for protection of human lives from kite flying is an important need of the hour as people who fly kites easily get exemptions due to minor punishments.
The Punjab Police spokesperson further said that in order to control kite flying, the police as well as the district administration, civil society and other concerned circles would be mobilized so that this dangerous game could be stopped as much as possible.
The Punjab Police spokesperson further said that police teams are conducting regular operations in all the districts of the province to eradicate kite flying and action is being taken against all violators who manufacture, buy and sell kites and metal strings under zero tolerance. Increasing penalties and fines will further narrow the circle of lawbreakers.
