Multan: IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar recently conducted a detailed inspection of the security arrangements for Muharram processions in the regions of Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan. His visit was part of a broader initiative to ensure peace and safety during the significant religious observances of Muharram.
According to Punjab Police, the Regional Police Officers of Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan provided briefings on the extensive security measures in place, which were instigated following directives from Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Dr. Anwar discussed the collaborative efforts involving community leaders, local administration, and various security agencies to facilitate a peaceful Muharram.
Highlighting the advanced security resources being deployed, including thermal imaging cameras and drones, Dr. Anwar emphasized the priority given to enhancing local police capabilities and infrastructure. He noted the ongoing efforts to fortify border posts and improve the training and welfare of police personnel. Dr. Anwar reassured that the services delivered through khidmat centers and Special Initiative Police Stations have significantly improved, aligning with the government’s commitment to effective public service.
