Lahore: In a concerted effort to address the backlog of road certificates and challans, Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, convened a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office. The session, which saw participation through video link by key police officials including the Additional IG South Punjab and all Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs), and District Police Officers (DPOs), was aimed at expediting the resolution of these pending legal documents.
According to Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar meticulously reviewed the status of pending road certificates and challans during the meeting. He issued a directive for the swift resolution of these issues, emphasizing the need for law enforcement officers to adhere strictly to standard operating procedures (SOPs). The IG Punjab underscored that any violation of SOPs or delays in the processing of road certificates and challans by investigation officers and Station House Officers (SHOs) would lead to strict actions.
Further, Dr. Anwar insisted on the importance of completing investigation cases within the designated timeframe, even if the officers handling them are transferred. He stressed that road certificates and challans, especially those related to drug offenses and cases under local and special laws, must be submitted to the courts promptly.
During the meeting, Dr. Anwar also highlighted the commendable efforts of the District Police Officers of Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, and Attock, praising their exemplary performance in handling and completing road certificates and challans efficiently. The meeting was also attended by Additional IG Investigation Punjab, Muhammad Idrees Ahmad, Additional IG Operations Punjab Shahzada Sultan, Additional IG IAB Imran Mahmood, DIG Investigation Azhar Akram, CPO Faisalabad Kamran Adil, and AIG Monitoring Malik Tariq Mehboob who supported the push for improved processing times and adherence to legal standards.
The directives issued by IG Punjab aim to enhance the efficiency of the police force in Punjab by ensuring that all legal proceedings related to road offenses are handled with urgency and precision, ultimately contributing to better law enforcement and public safety in the region.
