Lahore, In a compassionate move to support the health and wellbeing of police employees’ families, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has initiated a welfare program specifically targeting the treatment of children suffering from Cerebral Palsy. The program has allocated significant funds to cover the medical expenses of affected children, demonstrating the department’s commitment to its personnel’s familial health needs.
According to Punjab Police, a total amount exceeding 01 crore and 55 lakh rupees has been disbursed to assist 517 children diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Each child has been granted 10 thousand rupees per month to help cover their medical expenses for the fourth quarter of 2023, from October 1st to December 31st. The allocation of these funds was meticulously scrutinized and approved by the Welfare Management Committee, ensuring a transparent and need-based distribution.
Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the Punjab Police’s ongoing efforts under the “Hamary Phool” project to provide health welfare for the children of police employees. Apart from supporting children with Cerebral Palsy, the initiative also includes monthly stipends for children affected by thalassemia and funding for cochlear implant surgeries. To date, 15 children of police employees have undergone cochlear implant surgeries, with an additional five approved for the procedure in the near future.
This initiative reflects a broader commitment by the IG Punjab to enhance the welfare and quality of life for police employees and their families, ensuring that health concerns are addressed with the support and resources needed for treatment and care.
