Lahore, Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has announced the launch of Virtual Women Police Stations across the province, aimed at providing “Protection at Doorstep” to women. This innovative initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the safety and accessibility of police services for women through upgraded technology including the Punjab Police Safety App and Emergency Helpline 15.
According to Punjab Police, the virtual stations will operate as front desks, allowing women to access police support without the need to physically visit police offices. This move is expected to streamline the process for women seeking assistance and contribute to a safer environment for female citizens in Punjab.
In addition to the launch of virtual police stations, Dr. Anwar issued a series of instructions focused on ensuring the security of examination centers during the ongoing board examinations. Police officers have been directed to conduct thorough checks at these centers to prevent any malpractices.
The IG Punjab also emphasized the importance of accelerating the campaign for installing antennas on motorcycles to enhance road safety, cracking down on the online sale of kites and strings, and ensuring stringent security measures for all foreign nationals residing in Punjab, with a particular focus on the Chinese community.
In a bid to combat crime, Dr. Anwar ordered the police to intensify efforts to eradicate robbers, miscreants, and terrorist elements, especially in the kacha areas. Moreover, a directive was issued to begin the process of evacuating foreign nationals residing illegally in the province starting from April 15.
During a video link meeting with Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and other senior officials, Dr. Anwar further instructed the security of religious processions and markets during the last ten days of Ramadan to be made foolproof, in light of the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali.
The meeting also covered the progress of the Smart Safe Cities Authority project, with Dr. Anwar urging the completion of phase one in the respective districts within the stipulated deadlines to ensure the modernization and efficiency of police operations across Punjab.
The directives issued by IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar reflect a comprehensive approach towards enhancing public safety, women’s security, and the efficiency of police services in Punjab through the use of technology and strict enforcement measures.
