IG Punjab Hosts Open Court, Ensures Swift Action on Public Grievances

LAHORE, In a determined effort to expedite the resolution of public issues, Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, conducted an open court at the Central Police Office, where he directly heard the grievances of citizens and called for their immediate redressal.

According to Punjab Police, during the open court session, Dr. Usman Anwar directed the District Police Officers (DPOs) to oversee inquiries personally and to ensure that the public’s problems are resolved without unnecessary delay. Emphasizing the importance of efficiency, IG Punjab stated that procrastination in addressing citizens’ complaints would not be tolerated.

In a related development, Dr. Usman Anwar met with DPO Nankana, Saeed Aziz, and his team. DPO Saeed Aziz provided a comprehensive report on the performance of Nankana Police, detailing successful recoveries of stolen goods and cash totaling over 10 crores (100 million) Pakistani rupees, which have been returned to their rightful owners.

Additionally, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed at the Central Police Office between the Punjab Police and a private university. Dr. Usman Anwar and Dr. Nadeem Ahmed Bhatti, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, signed the agreement to facilitate educational opportunities for the children of police personnel. Under this MOU, the children of police martyrs will be granted full free education at the private university, while children of serving, retired, and deceased police personnel are to receive a 50% discount on admission and monthly tuition fees.

The IG’s open court and the subsequent educational initiative underscore a commitment to not only address the immediate concerns of the populace but also to invest in the long-term welfare of the families of police employees.
