Lahore, Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar recently visited a well-known private university, where he was welcomed by Chairman University Owais Rauf.
According to Punjab Police, during the visit, Dr. Usman Anwar and Chairman Owais Rauf discussed the higher education of police employees’ children and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for health care. The MOU ensures a 50% fee discount for the children of serving police employees and special fee concessions for MPhil and postgraduate programs. Additionally, the agreement includes free treatment for heart and other diseases at the university’s teaching hospital for police employees and their children.
IG Punjab also toured the university’s teaching hospital, inspecting various departments including cardiology. The visit further included the announcement that free medical camps will be organized for all police units by the university’s teaching hospital. Dr. Anwar highlighted the internship opportunities for University of Lahore students under the Friends of Police and Volunteers in Police programs, with internships in Punjab Police being prioritized for educational and research purposes.
The visit culminated in the inauguration of the Traffic Police Driving School within the university campus. Dr. Anwar ordered the immediate establishment of a driving licensing center at the university to facilitate students, their parents, and families. He also visited the university’s sports complex, accompanied by several police officials including Additional IG Welfare and Finance Riaz Nazir Gada and DIGs.
Islamabad, The Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO), Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, has issued a crucial message to residents addressing security concerns in the federal capital.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, Dr. Khan addressed circulating news about potential threats to schools and colleges in Islamabad. He reassured the public that the peace and security situation in Islamabad is under control, with the Capital Police ensuring robust security arrangements.
Dr. Khan emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining safety and security. He urged residents to stay informed through official social media channels and newspapers, stressing that the police would notify the public of any necessary precautionary measures. He also reminded citizens that illegal gatherings in Islamabad are prohibited and could pose risks given the current national situation.
The ICCPO reassured the public that the police provide security even for prohibited gatherings, underlining the need for a collaborative approach to safety. He assured residents that there is no need to alter routines or activities in schools and colleges due to fear, as the overall situation in Islamabad does not warrant such changes.
Dr. Khan reiterated the commitment of the police to maintain a safe environment conducive to conducting elections efficiently and emphasized the role of community vigilance in achieving this goal. He promised timely communication of any information requiring increased public cooperation.
The ICCPO concluded by advising citizens to be aware of their surroundings, stay connected with official communication channels, avoid spreading or heeding rumors, and refrain from actions that might compromise personal or community safety. The emphasis was on collective responsibility, with a call for cooperation with the Islamabad Capital Police.
