Lahore, Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, visited the Organized Crime Unit Headquarters in Township, Lahore, marking a significant step in the police’s efforts to combat organized crime. Accompanying him were CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Additional IG Operations Shahzada Sultan, and DIG Operations Waqas Nazir. The visit emphasized the Punjab Police’s commitment to addressing serious criminal activities in the region.
According to Punjab Police, DIG Organized Crime Unit Captain (Retired) Liaqat Ali Malik hosted the visit to the newly constructed headquarters and provided a briefing on professional matters. He outlined the unit’s strategies, including the use of drone cameras, to prevent drug trafficking and other organized crimes.
During his visit, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar issued directives to intensify the crackdown against dangerous criminals involved in drug-related offenses, professional shootings, extortion, land grabbing, and other serious crimes. He emphasized the importance of conducting intelligence-based combing operations on a daily basis to eradicate organized crime from the region. Dr. Anwar stressed the need for continuous anti-crime operations, utilizing drone cameras and modern technologies effectively.
Further, IG Punjab instructed DIG Organized Crime Unit to personally oversee intelligence-based operations targeting high-profile criminals. He called for full coordination in operations to eliminate serious crimes. Present at the event were SSP Operations Lahore Syed Ali Raza, SSP Nida Umar Chatta, SP Furqan Bilal, SP Aftab Ahmed Phalrawan, SP Imran Karamat Bukhari, and other officers, highlighting the collaborative effort across various levels of the Punjab Police.
The visit and subsequent directives reflect the Punjab Police’s proactive approach in tackling the challenges posed by organized crime, using modern technologies and strategic operations.
