IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Spearheads Record Scholarship Initiative for Police Employees’ Children

Lahore: Under the guidance of Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar, a significant educational initiative has been launched, providing scholarships totaling more than 520 million rupees this year to children of police personnel.

According to Punjab Police, this year’s scholarships will assist 7,549 children in covering fees for various degree programs, marking an increase from last year’s 850 million rupees. Dr. Usman Anwar expressed the department’s commitment to spend 1 billion rupees on educational initiatives for employees’ children this year.

Breakdown of the scholarship funds includes over 21 million rupees for 262 students in PhD and MPhil programs, more than 96.3 million rupees for 277 students in MBBS and BDS programs, and 41.8 million rupees for 489 IT degree students. Engineering students and those in BS Honors programs received over 14.1 million and approximately 220 million rupees respectively. Additional funds were allocated to intermediate students, children who have become Hafiz ul Quran, and those pursuing business education, law, BA degrees, and even pre-matriculation education.

Dr. Anwar also highlighted the department’s efforts in providing comprehensive guidance through various channels, including a dedicated YouTube channel to aid police employees’ children in selecting appropriate educational programs.
