Karachi, Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, in a heartwarming gesture, distributed wheelchairs to the special children of 15 police employees. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with a private welfare organization, Milestone, and is a part of Punjab Police’s ongoing efforts to support its personnel and their families.
According to Punjab Police, the ceremony for the distribution of wheelchairs was held at the Central Police Office, attended by the program manager of Milestone, Ali Hamza, and other officials. The beneficiaries included nine employees of Lahore Police and one each from Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Kasur, Telecommunication, PC, and PHP. The children, suffering from conditions like polio, paralysis, or other diseases, were identified for their specific needs, and the wheelchairs were designed accordingly.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar extended his gratitude to Milestone, particularly the CEO Shafiqur Rehman, for their significant contribution. He lauded the organization’s commitment to social welfare and the tangible difference they make in the lives of those in need. Dr. Anwar also highlighted the Punjab Police’s dedication to assisting and rehabilitating the special children of its employees, mentioning the ‘Hamaray Phool’ project, which provides financial and medical support.
During the event, it was noted that the provision of these wheelchairs would greatly enhance the mobility and quality of life for these children. Hamza Ali, representing the private welfare organization, announced their intention to continue this collaboration with Punjab Police, aiming to assist more affected children of police employees.
This initiative reflects a compassionate approach by the Punjab Police, reinforcing their commitment to welfare and inclusivity. The presence of Additional IG Welfare Riaz Nazir Gara, DIG Welfare Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin, DIG Establishment Dr. Inam Waheed, and other officers underscored the collective support for this noble cause.
