Karachi, In a major development within Punjab’s policing system, Inspector General of Police (IG) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar chaired a key meeting to oversee the transition of police stations to the new Special Initiative Protocol. This move aims to modernize and improve police services across the province.
According to Punjab Police, the meeting, held at the Central Police Office, focused on the progress of transferring police stations to the Special Initiative Protocol, especially in Lahore. The Lahore Police team briefed IG Punjab on the upgradation measures being implemented in the provincial capital’s police stations.
Dr. Usman Anwar stated that the Special Initiative Police Stations, staffed with modern trained and public-friendly personnel, are equipped with modern technology and software. These stations are designed to eliminate the traditional concept of police stations, providing a better environment and facilities to the citizens, thereby enhancing the public service delivery process.
IG Punjab directed that all district police stations, including those in Lahore, should complete the transition to the Special Initiative Protocol within the established timeline. He further announced that the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab would formally inaugurate these Special Initiative Police Stations.
The meeting also reviewed reports on development works in various police stations and the construction plans for new stations. Key attendees included Additional IG Punjab, MD Safe City Authority, DIG Operations Lahore, DIG Elite, SSP Operations Lahore, AIG Admin Central Police Office, and other officers.
