IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Outlines Comprehensive Security Plan for Election 2024

Lahore, In a recent video message, Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar detailed the extensive security arrangements in place for the upcoming 2024 general elections.

According to Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the commitment of the Punjab Police to ensure a peaceful and transparent electoral process on February 8, 2024. He announced the deployment of over 130,000 officers and officials for election security, an increase of 26,000 personnel compared to previous elections. This deployment will include members from the Special Protection Unit, Counter-Terrorism Department, Special Branch, and police training institutes. Dr. Anwar highlighted the significant role of women in these efforts, with more than 10,000 women police officials assigned to election duties.

IG Punjab underscored the police’s readiness in coordination with all security agencies in the country. He assured strict adherence to the Election Commission’s code of conduct across all districts, including Lahore, and promised firm legal action against any violations, such as aerial firing, weapon display, or any other illegal activities. Dr. Anwar also mentioned the Punjab Police’s role in maintaining law and order during political activities as per the Election Commission’s directives. He urged citizens to disregard unconfirmed news and biased intelligence reports, citing a satisfactory law and order situation.

Furthermore, Dr. Anwar referenced the stable performance of the Pakistani stock market and currency in the previous year, along with successful efforts to curb smuggling, hoarding, and the expulsion of illegally residing foreign nationals. As the political activities for the election have begun, he called for the public’s cooperation with national institutions to facilitate peaceful and transparent elections.
