Lahore, July 12, 2023 (PPI-OT): Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar met Head Constable Shahid Safdar, who saved the lives of passengers in the van fire in Sargodha, in his office. He felicitated and also awarded a certificate of appreciation and a cash award. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that young policemen like Head Constable Shahid Safdar are the pride and valuable assets of Punjab Police, encouraging such dutiful officers is a long-standing tradition of the police department and it will continue at all levels.
Spokesman Punjab Police said that Punjab Police Sargodha Head Constable Shahid Safdar safely pulled out 12 passengers from the burning van without caring for their lives. The gas cylinder of the van that was leaving from Ada Bhalwal to Kot Momin had leaked, due to the cylinder leaking, the van had caught fire, the driver had left the passengers in the van and fled from the spot. Shahid Safdar, who was sitting on the front seat, dared 12 people were safely rescued by breaking the door of the van, 07 people were burnt to death in the accident, with the timely help of Head Constable Shahid, it was possible to save the lives of 12 people. Additional IG Special Branch Zulfiqar Hameed, DIG Headquarters Humayun Bashir Tarar, other officers were also present in the meeting.
