IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Leads Major Boost in Driving License Issuance Across Province

Karachi, Following the directives of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, the Punjab Police have significantly accelerated the process of issuing driving licenses, resulting in over 209,000 citizens across the province, including Lahore, receiving their licenses. This substantial increase marks a monumental rise in the rate of driving license issuance compared to previous years.

According to Punjab Police, this marked improvement is attributed to the implementation of the new Digital License Management and Information System (DLMIS) by the traffic police, which has been more active than ever, especially in its online services. The spokesman for Punjab Police reported that the uninterrupted process of issuing driving licenses is a direct result of the enhanced efficiency brought about by the new system.

The integration of online services has been particularly beneficial for citizens. On the last day alone, 137,299 licenses were issued online, while 72,620 were obtained from traffic police offices, service centers, and police stations. The licenses issued cover a wide range, including learner, regular, international, and renewal licenses.

The spokesperson highlighted that the dramatic increase in the rate of driving license issuance is mainly due to the online release and the more active operation of the DLMIS. Additionally, the online renewal facility for learner licenses has been introduced, significantly easing the process for thousands of citizens who are now able to renew their licenses from the comfort of their homes.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the importance of providing the best service delivery to citizens at all centers, including traffic police offices and service centers. His focus remains on ensuring that driving licenses are made more accessible to a larger number of citizens.
