IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Calls for Stricter Law Enforcement Measures

Lahore: In a decisive move to enhance law enforcement effectiveness across Punjab, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed a comprehensive crackdown on criminal activities, emphasizing zero tolerance for corruption and delays in FIR registrations. These directives were issued during a high-level video conference with police officials, aimed at bolstering police operations and public service delivery throughout the region.

According to Punjab Police, the meeting, held at the Central Police Office, saw Dr. Anwar reviewing the performance and challenges faced by the six police regions of Punjab. He stressed the importance of immediate forensic analysis in cases involving abuse against women and children and called for enhanced investigation quality and compliance with protocols in high-profile cases. Dr. Anwar commended the efforts of District Police Officers (DPOs) in Khushab and Bhakkar for their successful operations against notorious gangs and lauded the command skills of Regional Police Officers (RPOs) in Sargodha and Faisalabad.

The IG directed all regional commands to focus on dismantling criminal gangs and expeditiously resolving complaints lodged through helpline 1787 and the Chief Minister’s Portal. The conference also addressed the need for improved performance in the Rawalpindi region, particularly concerning investigations, recovery, prosecution, and complaint resolution.
