IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Announces Expansion of Safe City Projects

Lahore: The Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, outlined the expansion of the Safe City project across Punjab in a special video message, detailing the integration of advanced security technologies and the completion timeline for these initiatives.

According to Punjab Police, the new Safe City projects are set to cover 18 cities in the province by June 30, 2025, fulfilling a vision set by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to enhance public safety and city management. Dr. Anwar highlighted the crucial role these systems played during the first decade of Muharram, monitoring over 38,000 gatherings and 10,700 processions with heightened security through over 135,000 deployed officers.

The integration of artificial intelligence and other modern technologies has been pivotal in crime control, traffic management, and legal enforcement. Dr. Anwar also noted significant savings from in-house software development for the project, emphasizing the combined efforts of the Punjab government, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), and Punjab Police.
