Karachi, In a significant move to bolster law enforcement in the Sheikhupura region, Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar recently presided over a ceremony to confer new ranks to 31 sub-inspectors. This event at the Central Police Office marked a key milestone in the professional progression of these officers, who were promoted from Assistant Sub-Inspectors.
According to Punjab Police, this ceremony is part of a broader initiative, where over the last 11 months, 548 officers and officials have received departmental promotions through 10 promotion boards in the Sheikhupura region. Dr. Anwar also announced that recruitment would soon commence to fill 11,000 vacant constable positions in the police department, indicating a significant expansion and strengthening of the police force in Punjab.
During the ceremony, Dr. Anwar urged the newly promoted sub-inspectors to perform their duties with increased diligence and dedication. He emphasized the importance of intensifying intelligence-based operations to combat organized crime in the Sheikhupura region. The IG Punjab specifically directed the District Police Officers (DPOs) to personally oversee operations against habitual criminals and high-profile offenders, highlighting the need for a focused and strategic approach to law enforcement.
Dr. Anwar also stressed the urgency of addressing the drug menace, calling for the strict enforcement of laws against those involved in drug-related crimes. The ceremony, attended by RPO Sheikhupura region Babar Sarfraz Alpa, families of the promoted officers, AIG Admin Sahibzada Bilal Umar, and other officers, reflects the Punjab Police’s commitment to enhancing its capabilities and effectiveness in maintaining law and order.
