Lahore: An important meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has led to directives for heightened security measures across the province. The meeting, which included participation from Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and other senior officials via video link, focused on improving security arrangements for police stations, Chinese nationals, foreign citizens, and sensitive locations amid increasing attacks by terrorists and miscreant elements.
According to Punjab Police, IG Punjab emphasized utilizing all available resources to ensure the safety of Chinese and foreign nationals, development projects, and key routes. He instructed that security be tightened at police check posts, particularly in border areas, and stressed adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for police stations and sensitive offices. Measures such as night patrolling, personnel attendance, and CCTV camera checks were highlighted.
The IG also urged the use of bulletproof jackets and safety measures during raids against criminals and mandated that SOPs be followed when presenting detainees in courts. Preventive steps were advised in cases involving old enmities to protect lives, and effective patrolling during foggy weather was recommended to deter criminal activities. Dr. Anwar instructed DPOs to personally inspect security arrangements at police stations, sensitive offices, and CPEC working sites. The meeting also saw the attendance of other high-ranking officials, including Additional IG Operations Punjab Shahzada Sultan, DIG Operations Punjab Waqas Nazir, and DIG Operations Lahore.
