LAHORE, A high-level meeting led by Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar was convened at the Central Police Office in Lahore today. The meeting’s agenda focused on a comprehensive review of several critical issues, including the evacuation of foreign migrants, enhancement of police service centers, and initiatives to improve gender crime investigations.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting saw Dr. Anwar emphasize the need for increased efficiency within the Special Investigation Unit, particularly regarding sexual crimes. He mandated immediate measures to prevent gender-based crimes and ensure effective investigation procedures. Highlighting the importance of prompt and fair justice, the IG Punjab directed stern action against officials failing to register First Information Reports (FIRs) through E-tag applications submitted by citizens.
A significant development noted in the meeting was the digitization of the driving licensing process at police service centers, which began this evening. Additionally, Dr. Anwar reviewed the functioning of police station front desks, now equipped to provide enhanced facilities to the public.
The meeting also covered the repatriation of illegal foreign nationals. Dr. Anwar stressed the importance of this issue, outlining steps to streamline the process while ensuring it aligns with legal and humanitarian guidelines.
