Lahore, June 28, 2021 (PPI-OT): Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani has said that while upgrading the training culture, modern vocational training as per the modern requirements of the police force is one of the top priorities of the department and in this regard upgrading of training curriculum as well as provision of modern resources is continued. He directed to set up an internship office in the training branch to start internship program for male and female students in police offices so that able and serious students could learn police workings in police offices through effective supervision of all matters related to internship.
He also constituted a four-member committee for scrutiny and selection of students for internship, whose members would include DIG Training, DIG R and D, DIG Headquarters and DIG IT. He further added that students will be given the opportunity of research and internship in different police offices for eight weeks for research purposes of their degrees and projects so that they can get acquainted with the office and practical matters of police working and also improve the operational procedures by making recommendations and suggestions based on their observations.
He further said that an assessment performa should be prepared to evaluate the performance of the officers conducting the post-promotion supervisory course in which reports on the abilities and qualifications of all the officers involved in the course should be scrutinized. He further said that during the ongoing training courses in all the training colleges of the province, special attention should be paid to public dealing and stress management so that after completing the training, the officers and personnel would come to the field and improve the service delivery process. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting on training matters at the Central Police Office here today.
During the meeting, IG Punjab was briefed about the details of the internship program, on which IG Punjab directed that mutual cooperation between Punjab Police and universities, colleges and public and private institutions to promote education and research in the field of education and to improve service delivery is the need of the hour. He further said that after completing the internship, the students would go to the society as ambassadors of Punjab Police and would be instrumental in improving the relations of the police with the citizens.
He further said that a weeklong training course should be conducted for the staff recruited in the class IV to make them aware about the working so that they too can perform their duties in the best possible way and play their effective role in the office work. Addl IG Establishment, Ali Amir Malik, Additional IG PHP, Mohammad Akram Naeem Bharoka, Additional IG Training Kanwar Shah Rukh, Additional IG Welfare and Finance Mohammad Farooq Mazhar, Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan, DIG R and D Shahid Javed, DIG Training Dr. Sulaiman Sultan Rana, DIG, IT, Waqas Nazir, DIG, Headquarters Shahzada Sultan, DIG Operations, Punjab, Sohail Akhtar Sukhera and other officers were also present on this occasion.
