LAHORE, In an initiative aimed at promoting higher education among the children of police employees, Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has introduced a program in partnership with Lahore Leeds University. This new initiative, solidified through a memorandum of understanding (MOU), will provide educational concessions to the children of police force members, including free education for the children of police martyrs.
According to Punjab Police, the agreement was signed at the Central Police Office between IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar and Dr. Nadeem Ahmed Bhatti, Vice-Chancellor of Lahore Leeds University. Under the terms of the MOU, children of police martyrs are eligible for 100% free education at the private university, while children of serving, retired, and deceased police officers are to receive a 50% discount on admission and monthly tuition fees.
Dr. Usman Anwar highlighted that the collaboration with Lahore Leeds University is designed to eliminate the barriers to accessing higher education for the children of police officers. The initiative will support studies across a range of disciplines, paving the way for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and MPhil degrees in an encouraging environment.
Dr. Nadeem Ahmed Bhatti, recognizing the contributions of the Punjab Police to societal safety and security, expressed the university’s commitment to furthering the educational opportunities for the police force’s families. The MOU signifies the university’s acknowledgement of the police’s exemplary service.
Additional IG Finance and Welfare Muhammad Riaz Nazir Gara, DIG Welfare Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin, AIG Finance Naveed Ajmal, and other officers were in attendance during the signing of the MOU, marking a step forward in educational welfare for the police community.
