IG Punjab and Royal Canadian Mounted Police Delegation Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

LAHORE, The Central Police Office became a focal point for international collaboration as Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, hosted a delegation from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

According to the Punjab Police, the RCMP delegation, led by Liaison Officer David Dulude, comprised Madiha Farooq among other distinguished officers. From the Punjab side, notable attendees included Additional IG Punjab Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry, Additional IG Training Tariq Rustam Chauhan, DIG Training Munir Ahmad Zia, DIG R and D Khurram Shakur, AIG Admin Amara Athar, and other senior officers.

The crux of the meeting was centered around potential areas of mutual interest, particularly the prospects of strengthening bilateral ties in police training. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar highlighted the advancements made by the Punjab Police in integrating modern policing SOPs into their training curriculum. Emphasis on the utilization of contemporary technology, forensic science, and innovative investigation modules forms the backbone of their training, he shared. He also informed the Canadian delegation about the Tahaffuz centers established across the province, aimed at fostering community policing. These centers play an instrumental role in facilitating transgenders, women, homeless children, and other vulnerable groups.

Acknowledging the strides made by the Punjab Police in counter-terrorism, Mr. David Dulude emphasized the significance of leveraging information technology and adopting community policing models in today’s era. As a testament to the promising discussions, both the Punjab Police and the RCMP concurred on enhancing information sharing and professional collaboration.

To commemorate the meeting, souvenirs were exchanged between IG Punjab and the members of the Canadian police delegation.
