IG Punjab Allocates Over 13 Lakh Rupees for Treatment of Injured Ghazi Police Officials

Lahore, 15 Oct 2023: Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has sanctioned over 13 lakh rupees dedicated to the medical treatment of Ghazi police officers severely wounded while performing their duties. This financial support aims to cover the medical bills of these valiant officials from Lahore and its neighbouring districts.

Specifically, Head Constable Muhammad Yousaf and Constable Shaukat Ali have each been allocated Rs. 3 lakhs. Similarly, Constables Nadeem Abbas and Asad Ali have been provided with 02 lakhs each, while Sub Inspector Muhammad Sarwar, ASI Iftikhar Ahmed, and Constable Waqas Ahmed will each receive 01 lakh rupees for their treatments. All of these officers were grievously hurt by criminal gunfire during their efforts to safeguard civilians.

Stressing the importance of the wellbeing of the injured officers, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar reiterated that the Ghazi officers’ recovery remains a top priority. He assured that the Punjab Police would extend every possible support in this regard. Furthermore, he announced that the names of these Ghazi Police officers would be honoured by engraving them on the Ghazi wall at the Central Police Office and they would be recipients of Silver medals. The Compensation Award Committee, chaired by Additional IG Welfare Muhammad Riaz Nazir Gara, had recommended these cases to IG Punjab for the provision of the mentioned funds.
