IG Punjab Allocates Over 1.6 Million Rupees for Health Welfare of Police Personnel

Lahore: In a continued effort to support the health and welfare of police employees and their families, Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has authorized the release of over 1.6 million rupees in additional funds for medical expenses.

According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 10 August 2024, the funds were distributed among several officers and staff across different districts, demonstrating a robust commitment to the welfare of the force. Injured constable Zahid Mahmood from DG Khan received 300,000 rupees for medical treatments, while Ghazi Sub-Inspector Muhammad Bakhsh of Lahore was allocated 200,000 rupees. Notable disbursements also included 400,000 rupees for retired DSP Muhammad Amir Khan’s brain surgery, and 300,000 rupees for Sub-Inspector Syed Saqlain Raza for a severe illness treatment. Other allocations included 150,000 rupees for retired officer Ghulam Farid for backbone problems, 100,000 rupees for Private Secretary Shaukat Niaz for eye surgery, and another 100,000 rupees to Constable Haider Ali of PC Rawalpindi for leg surgery.

Dr. Usman Anwar highlighted that the assistance comes from the Police Welfare Fund, which is partly funded by deductions from police salaries and income generated from other police welfare sources. He reaffirmed that the well-being of the police personnel is a top priority and that the department is taking further steps to ensure the best possible welfare outcomes for its members.
