Rawalpindi, Inspector General of Police in Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has sanctioned a substantial sum of 15 lakh rupees, aimed at covering the medical expenses of several police personnel who were seriously injured during confrontations with criminals.
According to a news release by the Punjab Police, the allocation of funds is a testament to the department’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of its officials. A breakdown of the allotment sees Constable Jahanzaib from the Rawalpindi police receiving 05 lakh PKR, while Constables Zafar Iqbal and Muhammad Haroon Afzal have been granted 03 lakh PKR each. Constable Sarfraz Ahmed of the Sargodha police has been assigned 02 lakh PKR, with both Constable Ghulam Murtaza and Head Constable Babar Ali Shah receiving 01 lakh PKR each for their medical care. All these personnel, termed as “Ghazi officers”, were critically wounded while fulfilling their line of duty.
Emphasizing the department’s obligation towards its officials, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar issued directives to ensure that the best possible medical treatments are provided to these injured officers. He advocated for prompt rehabilitation and recovery measures, emphasizing the need for senior police officers, including RPOs and DPOs, to maintain regular communication with the injured and facilitate any required aid. As an acknowledgment of their valiant services, Dr. Anwar also announced the award of silver medals to these injured officers. Furthering this gesture of recognition, their names will be etched onto the ‘Ghazi Wall’ located at the Central Police Office.
