IED Blast in Odisha Injures Two Special Operations Group Personnel

Bhubaneswar, An improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the Kandhamal district of Odisha, India, has resulted in injuries to two members of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Indian police. The incident occurred during a combing operation in a forest area, underscoring the ongoing conflict in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the SOG personnel were conducting an operation when they encountered the IED, which was reportedly planted by Maoists. The device detonated, resulting in injuries to the officers. Kandhamal Superintendent of Police (SP) Suvendu Kumar Patra provided details of the incident to the media, explaining that the blast occurred when the personnel accidentally touched the IED.

This event highlights the continued challenges faced by law enforcement and security forces in areas with Maoist presence. The use of IEDs by Maoists represents a persistent threat to the safety of both security personnel and civilians in regions affected by insurgency.
