Karachi: The 12th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar-24 (IDEAS-24) concluded at the Expo Center Karachi, where discussions on defense and security relations took center stage. Organized from November 19 to 22 under the auspices of the Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), the event saw participation from numerous countries aiming to deepen their engagement with Pakistan’s defense sector.
According to Inter Services Public Relations, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, attended the event and engaged in extensive discussions with defense ministers and military commanders from countries such as Turkiye, Azerbaijan, South Africa, and Argentina, among others. The meetings focused on bilateral security and cooperation, particularly in defense production.
During the seminar, General Mirza delivered a keynote address on the topic “Pakistan’s Defence Production and Potential: Challenges and Way forward,” highlighting the capabilities of Pakistan’s defense industry and its role in equipping the nation’s armed forces. He emphasized the importance of research and development in creating innovative and cost-effective solutions, which not only meet Pakistan’s defense needs but also open opportunities for international collaboration.
General Mirza also toured the Pakistan Pavilion, where he commended the Tri-Services for showcasing locally manufactured defense equipment that meets global standards. He praised DEPO for organizing the event and extended gratitude to the international companies that participated in IDEAS-24.
