Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has issued a call to India to honor its longstanding promise to the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by granting them the right to self-determination, allowing them to decide their political future. This appeal comes amid continued tensions and unrest in the region, underscoring the unresolved nature of the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan.
According to Kashmir Media Service, various APHC leaders, including Advocate Arshad Iqbal, Muhammad Musaib Wani, Yaseen Attai, Fareeda Behanji, Khawaja Firdous, Bashir Andrabi, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, and Maulana Musaib Nadvi, issued separate statements in Srinagar expressing their disappointment over the unfulfilled promise made to the Kashmiri people more than seven decades ago. They emphasized that the Kashmir issue remains a significant source of tension and instability in the region, arguing that it is not merely an internal matter for India but an internationally recognized dispute.
The leaders criticized India’s handling of the situation in Kashmir, describing the Indian occupation as oppressive and a major obstacle to peace. They advocated for a resolution of the Kashmir dispute based on the right to self-determination as outlined in the United Nations resolution of January 5, 1949, arguing that this is the only path to lasting peace, stability, and development in the region.
The APHC’s statements highlight the ongoing struggle for self-determination in Kashmir and the broader implications for regional peace and security. The call for India to fulfill its promise to the Kashmiri people reflects the deep-seated desire for a peaceful and just resolution to the longstanding dispute.
