Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has issued a strong condemnation of the severe human rights violations perpetrated by India against the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The organization called for global awareness and action against these injustices, underscoring the ongoing struggle for self-determination in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman, in a statement released in Srinagar, criticized the deployment of one million Indian troops in IIOJK, accusing them of committing grave human rights violations for over seven decades. He emphasized that these atrocities have intensified since the Modi government’s revocation of IIOJK’s special status on August 5, 2019. The spokesman described Kashmir as a political and humanitarian dispute and appealed to people worldwide who value human dignity to support the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
The APHC expressed dismay over the international community’s silence on the plight of Kashmiris, whose life, honor, culture, and identity are under severe threat. The organization stressed the responsibility of conscientious individuals globally to voice their opposition to the injustices in Kashmir and urged the international community to hold India accountable for its actions in the occupied territory.
In a related development, APHC leader and Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Social Peace Forum, Advocate Davender Singh Behal, acknowledged and thanked the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, for advocating the Kashmir dispute at the COP 28 summit in Dubai. Behal highlighted Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue, aligning with the wishes of the Kashmiri people, and criticized India for its lack of political will and obstruction in resolving the longstanding dispute.
Behal called upon the international community to facilitate dialogue between India and Pakistan for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing the need for global intervention in this prolonged conflict.
