Srinagar: In a significant declaration, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, emphasized the group’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute, underscoring their dedication to continue efforts toward achieving this aim.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz addressed the congregants at the Friday prayer gathering at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He articulated that resolving the Kashmir dispute is essential for enduring peace and progress in the region. He also expressed profound regret over the ongoing illegal detention of several Hurriyat leaders, including Masarat Alam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, and Muhammad Yasin Malik, among others, calling for their immediate release.
In a recent poignant reunion, Mirwaiz met with colleagues Professor Abdul Ghani Butt and Masroor Abbas Ansari, marking the first meeting in over five years. This gathering was not only a time for reflection on past struggles but also an opportunity to deliberate on the altered circumstances in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The discussion also paid homage to departed Hurriyat leaders, remembering their contributions and praying for their souls.
