Hurriyat Conference Accuses BJP Regime of Muzzling Kashmiris’ Self-Determination Rights

Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has accused the Narendra Modi-led Indian government of implementing policies aimed at suppressing the Kashmiri people’s demand for the right to self-determination. This assertion comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, characterized by a significant military presence and political unrest.

According to Kashmir Media Service, leaders from the APHC, including Syed Bashir Andrabi, Advocate Arshad Iqbal, Khawaja Firdous, Muhammad Haseeb Wani, Ms. Hafza Bano, and Maulana Musaib Nadvi, have voiced their concerns through separate statements in Srinagar. They highlighted that the continuous tragic incidents involving Indian troops in occupied Jammu and Kashmir serve as a wake-up call for the international community, urging it to recognize the severity of the situation.

The APHC leaders have called on United Nations members to reject India’s unilateral actions in the occupied territory. They are urging the UN Security Council to step in, lift the military and police sieges, and denounce all Indian laws and measures enacted post-August 5, 2019, including ordinances or acts, as violations of UNSC resolutions and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Stressing the importance of the right to self-determination as a fundamental human right recognized by the international body, the APHC contends that the Kashmiri people have endured extreme suffering over the past 35 years due to the Indian forces’ actions. As per ir statements, Kashmiris are undergoing the “worst kind of physical and mental torture,” highlighting the urgent need for international intervention to uphold their rights and resolve the longstanding conflict.
