Hundreds of Loudspeakers Removed from Mosques in Madhya Pradesh

Indore, In a controversial move, officials in Madhya Pradesh have removed 437 loudspeakers from 258 mosques and other religious sites across the state, following directives from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the removals sparked tensions within the local Muslim community, prompting Shahar Qazi Mohammad Ishrat Ali, a religious leader in Indore, to lead a delegation to meet with District Magistrate Ashish Singh. The delegation advocated for the allowance of loudspeakers at religious places, as long as they adhere to the permissible noise limits. They argued for equitable enforcement of the rule, citing that similar sound restrictions should apply to DJs and public address systems at social functions.

District Magistrate Singh confirmed that the action to remove the loudspeakers was taken under instructions from the state government, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to upholding the state’s noise regulations.
