Islamabad, December 08, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain says the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan will be focused in the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting being held in Islamabad on the 19th of this month.
Addressing a ceremony, organized by the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Islamabad, he said humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan is getting severe with every passing day. The Minister said we want to prepare a mechanism in collaboration with brotherly Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, to help the Afghan people. He said Pakistan is extending every possible support to Afghanistan, and we are providing 250,000 metric tons of wheat to Afghanistan.
He said Pakistan has withdrawn duty on forty items being imported from Afghanistan, which will help the Afghan business community to stand on their own feet. Chaudhry Fawad Hussain urged the international community to join hands to help the Afghan people. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan always emphasized on dialogue and peace in Afghanistan, and Pakistan government has been making efforts for peace in the country.
The Information Minister said the OIC Foreign Ministers meeting in Pakistan will be the biggest event in Pakistan on foreign affairs since 1980. He said eighty-four countries, including foreign ministers of 27 countries, will attend the conference. Speaking on the occasion, Saudi Ambassador Nawaf Bin Said Al-Maliki said Saudi Arabia is expanding cooperating with Pakistan in diverse fields. He said media has an important role to play to further strengthen the bilateral relationship.
