Islamabad, July 27, 2023 (PPI-OT): The General Secretary of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, has strongly condemned the serious violations of human rights by Indian troops in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Sheikh Abdul Mateen in a statement issued in Islamabad said the Indian troops have created an atmosphere of fear and terror in the occupied territory by intensifying the violent cordon and search operations to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle.
He said siege and search operations have become a routine in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He has said India has virtually turned Jammu and Kashmir into a military garrison. He said the Indian army, the claimant of so-called democracy and secularism, is involved in massive violations of human rights in occupied Kashmir. Sheikh Abdul Mateen said the Kashmiri people completely reject the illegal occupation of India and its illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019. He said the authorities have continuously detained the Kashmiri Hurriyat leadership in jails and houses. Indian forces have also imprisoned thousands of Kashmiris, mostly the youth, under black laws, including the Public Safety Act (PSA).
He also expressed serious concern over the plight of Hurriyat leaders and activists, languishing in different jails of India and the territory and appealed to the United Nations and international human rights organizations to increase pressure on India for their immediate release.
