Imphal, October 05, 2023 (PPI-OT): Several houses were set on fire and bullets were fired in fresh violence erupted in volatile Manipur state of India. According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident happened in New Keithelmanbi in Patsoi police station area of state’s Imphal West district.
After the incident, the attackers fled the spot, triggering tension in the area, the police said. Indian forces used brute force and prevented a mob of Meitei women who gathered in the area following the incident. The additional Indian forces have been deployed in the area to control the situation, police said. More than 180 people lost their lives and several hundreds were injured since the violence and clashes broke out in Manipur on May 3, in Manupur.
