New Delhi: Schools across India associated with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were rocked by a series of hoax bomb threats late Monday night, sparking widespread concern and a swift response from authorities.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the alerts targeted two schools in Delhi’s Rohini and Dwarka neighborhoods, and one in Hyderabad, shaking the local communities. The threats, dispatched via email, warned of bombs detonating in classrooms at 11 am the following Tuesday. These claims were ultimately dismissed as false alarms by the police.
This security scare comes on the heels of a real incident: a bomb exploded outside a CRPF school in Rohini on Sunday, an act for which a pro-Khalistani group has claimed responsibility. Despite causing damage to nearby structures and vehicles, the blast resulted in no casualties.
Delhi Police are intensifying their investigations, contacting various social media networks and using channels like Telegram to trace the origins of these menacing emails.
The broader context of these threats is alarming, with over 90 flights, both domestic and international, also receiving similar false alarms this week. In response, senior security officials including the CISF Director General and the BCAS Director General convened with the Indian Home Secretary to strategize on mitigating these disruptions.
