Hindutva Mob Vandalizes Karachi Bakery in Telangana

Hyderabad: Karachi Bakery in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, was vandalized by a Hindutva group demanding a name change, leading to heightened tension in the area. The group, associated with BJP, RSS, and Bajrang Dal, marched to the bakery in the afternoon carrying saffron flags and sticks, damaging the signboard, according to Kashmir Media Service.

Witnesses reported that police present at the scene did not intervene to stop the vandalism. The management of Karachi Bakery, a well-known establishment in the city, had recently emphasized that the brand was founded in Hyderabad and its name is part of its legacy, not an indication of nationality.

In a statement on Instagram, Karachi Bakery reiterated its roots, stating, “Karachi Bakery is a 100% Indian brand, founded in Hyderabad, India, in 1953. Our name is a part of our history, not our nationality. Please support us for who we are—an Indian brand serving India with love.”

The incident has sparked discussions about identity and the impact of nationalist groups on businesses with historical names. Local authorities have yet to address the lack of intervention by police during the incident.
