Dehradun: Groups of Hindutva adherents ransacked Muslim-owned shops in the Kirti Nagar area of Uttarakhand in a recent outbreak of communal violence. The attacks were prompted by allegations against a Muslim youth, Salman, accused of abducting a Hindu girl.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the groups levied accusations against Salman, leading to his arrest by local police, who have since filed charges. The mob expressed their discontent by damaging properties and chanting anti-Muslim slogans throughout the locality.
In related unrest, Chhattisgarh witnessed separate violent incidents. In Bijapur district, gunmen assassinated Dinesh Pujari, a 35-year-old suspected of being a police informant, with Naxal separatists claiming responsibility through pamphlets found at the scene. Additionally, two members of the Tibetan Border Police succumbed to injuries from an explosion in Narayanpur district earlier this month.
