Bhagalpur: A Hindutva group hoisted both a saffron flag and an Israeli flag atop a mosque during a religious procession in Bhagalpur city, located in the Indian state of Bihar. The incident has raised concerns over communal peace in the area.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the event occurred during the Kali Visarjan Yatra near Tamtam Chowk, under the jurisdiction of Lalmatia Police Station. The incident was captured in a video that quickly spread online, raising alarms over potential communal discord.
In the video, members of the Hindutva group are seen waving an Israeli flag and placing a saffron flag on the mosque’s dome, while other participants cheered. Additionally, songs containing derogatory remarks against the Muslim community accompanied the video on social media platforms.
Police officials reported that they cleared the area and deployed additional forces, including units from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), to maintain security in the locality. The incident has sparked anger within the Muslim community and heightened concerns among social activists, who emphasize that such actions could disrupt communal harmony.
