Highlighting the Plight of Kashmiri Women: Calls for Global Action Against Inhuman Treatment


Mirpur, Special Assistant to the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir for Law and Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Fundamental Rights, Ms. Nabila Ayub, has brought to light the severe inhuman treatment faced by the women of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by Indian forces. Her statements were made during a seminar organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Self-determination Movement International (JKSDMI) in Mirpur to commemorate International Women’s Day.



According to Kashmir Media Service, Ms. Ayub, speaking as a special guest, emphasized the critical situation in IIOJK and the pivotal role played by Raja Najabat Hussain, founder chairman of JKSDMI, in internationalizing the issue of Indian atrocities in Kashmir. She acknowledged Hussain’s efforts, for which he was honored with the Star of Pakistan by the government of Pakistan, in bringing global attention to the injustices faced by Kashmiris, particularly women.



During the seminar, advocate Ms. Sidra Latif highlighted the need for women worldwide to voice out against the incidents of rape and mistreatment of women in IIOJK, stressing the importance of ensuring that Kashmiri women are accorded the same rights as those in other civilized countries.



Resolutions presented by Deputy Education Officer (Women) Ms. Saba Owais condemned the massacre of innocent Kashmiris and the inhuman atrocities committed against women and children by the occupying Indian forces in IIOJK. The seminar served as a platform to reaffirm the commitment towards advocating for the rights and dignity of Kashmiri women, urging international communities to recognize and act against the violations in the region.
