Lahore: A recent announcement from the Public Service Commission Punjab reveals a high volume of applications for several government positions, underscoring the competitive nature of the job market in the region.
According to Public Service Commission Punjab, the recruitment process for various government roles, including Sub Engineers and Assistants across different departments, has attracted an overwhelming number of applicants. For the Sub Engineer (Electrical) BS-14 position in the HUD & PHED GDA Gujranwala and Electric Sub Inspector (BS-14) in the Energy Department, a total of 376 applications were received for just 8 positions. These tests are scheduled to be held on November 30, 2024, with the format being Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).
The Sub Engineer positions across several departments have also witnessed a significant influx of applications. Only 6 positions are available, for which a staggering 6,586 applications have been submitted. This particular examination is also set to occur on November 30, 2024, in the evening session, and will follow the MCQ format.
The demand is even higher for the Assistant (BS-16) roles in the Services & General Administration Department and Police Department, with a combined total of 111,561 applications for 210 positions. These examinations are planned for December 1, 2024, in both morning and evening sessions, again utilizing the MCQ format.
This surge in applications indicates a pressing demand for government employment in Punjab, reflecting both the allure of job security and benefits associated with public sector roles.
