Srinagar: The High Court of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has invalidated the detention orders of three local residents, previously held under the controversial Public Safety Act (PSA), ordering their immediate release.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Justice Sanjay Dhar of the High Court ruled against the detention orders for Ishfaq Ahmad from Shopian, and Mir Nasrullah and Mohammad Ramzan from Srinagar. The individuals had been in preventive custody since 2022, deemed illegally detained under the PSA, a law often criticized for its harsh provisions and potential for abuse.
The decision mandates the immediate release of the detainees from custody, marking a significant legal victory for the individuals involved and highlighting ongoing legal challenges related to detention practices in the region.
