Srinagar: In a significant judicial order, the High Court of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has mandated that 29 local politicians vacate their government-provided bungalows in the region. This directive comes in the wake of the recently conducted local election phases, directing immediate action post-election.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the decision was made by a bench led by Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Puneet Gupta. The politicians affected by this order include notable figures such as Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, Abdul Rahim Rather, Sajad Lone, Kavinder Gupta, and Sat Sharma among others. They have been instructed to vacate their accommodations immediately following the conclusion of the electoral process.
The electoral timeline in the region has been tightly scheduled, with the first phase having taken place on September 18, followed by the second on September 25. The final phase is scheduled for October 1, with results expected to be announced by October 8. This judicial order places additional pressure on the politicians involved, aligning with broader administrative and legal adjustments in the region.
