High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal Engages with British Pakistani Community in Birmingham


Birmingham: Dr. Mohammad Faisal, the High Commissioner of Pakistan to the United Kingdom, visited Birmingham on 31 August 2024 to partake in significant community events including the Annual Independence Day Event and the 5th Annual Convention of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of Northern Europe (APPNE).



According to High Commission for Pakistan – United Kingdom announcement issued on 02 September 2024, Dr. Faisal’s first engagement was at the Edgbaston Cricket Stadium, where the Annual Independence Day Event, organized by the British Pakistan Initiative, took place. The event, aimed at fostering cooperation in trade, culture, tourism, and other areas between Pakistan and the UK, saw the attendance of key figures such as the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Ken Wood, Lord Lieutenant Dr. Anderson, and Mr. Richard Barlow from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The event was well-attended by mayors, councillors, British-Pakistani businessmen, officials from the Pakistan Consulate, and prominent community members.



During his address, the High Commissioner expressed his pleasure in participating in the Independence Day festivities and lauded the contributions of the British Pakistani community in strengthening ties between the two nations.



Furthermore, Dr. Faisal attended the 5th Annual Convention of APPNE, where he interacted with participants and praised the organization for being a significant voice for doctors in the UK. He reiterated his support for APPNE’s initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare in Pakistan and improving the welfare of Pakistani-origin doctors in the UK.



These visits highlight the ongoing efforts to enhance the bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom through various community and professional engagements.
