Peshawar, A new helicopter safari service has been introduced in Chitral to enhance the travel experience for both domestic and foreign tourists, coinciding with the upcoming Shandur Polo Festival.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the service was initiated following directives from Zahid Chanzeb, Advisor to the Chief Minister for Tourism and Culture. The memorandum of understanding was signed between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority, headed by Director General Barkatullah Marwat, and Petronet Aviation. This partnership aims to provide quick and efficient aerial tours in the region, starting immediately before the festival on Friday, June 28.
The launch includes four distinct helicopter tour packages, offering aerial views of landmarks such as Chitral Airport, Kailash Valley, Lowari Tunnel, Trich Mir peak, and Qaqalisht Meadows. A special package is also available for tourists attending the Shandur Polo Festival, providing direct flights from Chitral Airport to the event location.
This initiative received praise from Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur, who expressed his support and appreciated the swift actions taken by the tourism and culture teams to enhance the region’s accessibility and attractiveness to tourists. Secretary of Tourism Mohammad Bakhtiar Khan also played a crucial role in coordinating with the Civil Aviation Authority and other relevant authorities to ensure all preparations were in place.
