Helicopter Crash Near Kedarnath Results in No Injuries


New Delhi: A helicopter being airlifted by an MI-17 chopper from Kedarnath to Gauchar in Uttarakhand crashed today after the towing rope snapped mid-air. The accident occurred near the Mandakini River in Lincholi, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.



According to Kashmir Media Service, the helicopter operated by a private company met with the mishap when it unexpectedly fell from the towing arrangement. The incident was recorded on camera, capturing the moment the aircraft descended into the river near Lincholi, close to Tharu Camp. The State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) swiftly received a distress call through police in Lincholi and deployed a rescue team to the site where relief operations are underway.



ANI quoted an official detailing that the helicopter had been used for transporting passengers to the Kedarnath temple before the accident. Despite the severity of the crash, there were no casualties, and the SDRF team has confirmed that all individuals involved are safe. The official further noted that the quick response and absence of injuries underscored the effectiveness of the emergency protocols in place for such incidents.
