Srinagar, In anticipation of India’s Republic Day on January 26, Indian authorities have ramped up security measures in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir region, including increased checking, frisking, surveillance, and patrolling.
According to Kashmir Media Service, additional troops have been deployed in Srinagar and its surrounding areas to ensure tight security, particularly around the venues for the main Republic Day functions in Srinagar and Jammu cities. These measures have led to a heightened military presence in the region.
The authorities have established more checkpoints at crucial entry points to the region, with the Indian army, police, and paramilitary forces stationed and prepared for potential incidents. These security forces are visibly equipped to manage any security-related contingencies.
In addition to physical security measures, technological tools are being employed to boost surveillance. Public areas are being monitored with the help of newly installed CCTV cameras. Furthermore, large makeshift bunkers and bulletproof armed vehicles have been strategically placed throughout the region to oversee the day-to-day activities of residents.
