Islamabad: The Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, has called on the National Centre of Artificial Intelligence (NCAI) to leverage its expertise to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into academic curricula. This move aims to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an AI-driven future workforce.

According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, a follow-up meeting was held with NCAI’s leadership, led by Project Director Dr. Yasar Ayaz, to evaluate the centre’s accomplishments and innovations. The meeting was attended by Principal Investigators from various partner laboratories across Pakistan.

NCAI showcased its advancements in AI technology, including solutions in fields such as defense, healthcare, energy management, smart cities, and cultural heritage preservation. The Chairman emphasized the need for NCAI to promote these technologies on digital platforms to increase public awareness and stakeholder engagement.

Dr. Akhtar expressed interest in visiting NCAI and its affiliated laboratories to engage with start-ups and understand their contributions. He also encouraged the development of AI tools to address national issues and contribute to informed public discourse.

Reaffirming HEC’s commitment, the Chairman pledged support in connecting NCAI with provincial governments to adopt indigenous AI solutions, fostering revenue generation and sustainability. A prior meeting involving national centres in AI, cybersecurity, and robotics had discussed research activities and operational aspects in detail.
